The best time to visit Quba is June to September, when temperatures range from 18 to 27 Celsius, and it is cooler than Baku by a noticeable margin.
This difference is the reason for the trip. In summer the area is green and the mountain roads are open and paths are good for walking. In winter it becomes a ski destination, but the road to the high villages like Khinaliq may be completely closed.
Rain is possible and fog can descend suddenly on the highlands, so bring a light coat even in the summer months.

Quba is about 170 kilometers from Baku, i.e., three to three-and-a-half hours by car via a coastal road and then a mountain road.
